⭐Model leadership behavior to get noticed
Sharing some of my personal favourite scripts.
Ever watched a colleague struggle silently in a meeting—interrupted repeatedly, their good ideas fading into the background—and wished someone would speak up?
I remember witnessing exactly that: My coworker Vince, brilliant yet quiet, shared a promising idea only to have it ignored. Moments later, when his manager repeated it, the room applauded.
I felt a pang of frustration and regret—I hadn't spoken up to support him when it mattered.
I, to date, think about that meeting a lot. But that day I walked away with a lesson– Leadership isn't just about defending yourself. It's about actively creating space for others, amplifying overlooked voices, and modeling inclusion for everyone around you.
- This helps you to operate better as a product manager
- Build trust with your teammates
- People feel they can reach out to you and can openly discuss and speak about their perspectives.
- Build a stronger team together
Today, let's explore how you can lead by example (even if you are not at a senior level) and ensure your teammates never feel unseen or unheard again.
1) Amplification
When supporting a colleague whose ideas have been overlooked:
- "I want to highlight Maria's point from earlier—it directly addresses this challenge."
- "Building on Ahmed’s earlier suggestion, we could explore..."
- "Let's revisit Sonia’s comment; I think it offers a valuable perspective here."
